1. End-to-end Project Management
- Lead project planning, kickoff, execution, monitoring, delivery, acceptance, and project closure.
- Define and maintain project scope, WBS, schedule, milestones, deliverables, budget, resource plan, and communication plan.
- Manage multiple projects in parallel or one medium-to-large project, with expected control scope equivalent to 15-30 members or 3+ concurrent projects, depending on assignment.
- Ensure project delivery follows the agreed methodology: Waterfall, Agile/Scrum, hybrid, or Japanese SI-style delivery process.
2. Japanese Client Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the main delivery contact point for Japanese clients, client PM/PL, onsite members, and internal management.
- Facilitate regular meetings, requirement confirmation, progress reporting, issue discussion, steering committee preparation, and decision alignment in Japanese.
- Manage client expectations proactively, especially around scope change, delivery risk, quality trade-offs, priority, and acceptance conditions.
- Communicate with logic, data, and options rather than simply reporting problems.
3. QCD, Risk, Issue & Change Control
- Own QCD performance: quality, cost/effort, delivery timeline, and customer satisfaction.
- Track progress, effort, defect status, productivity, risk, dependency, and delivery confidence using clear metrics.
- Identify risks early, escalate at the right timing, propose mitigation plans, and follow through until closure.
- Control change requests, impact analysis, re-estimation, approval flow, and baseline updates.
4. Requirement, Design & Delivery Governance
- Work with BrSE, BA, SA, Tech Lead, QA Lead, and development members to clarify requirements and ensure requirement-design-test traceability.
- Review key delivery artifacts at management level: project plan, requirement clarification list, design plan, test plan, defect report, release plan, and acceptance evidence.
- Ensure deliverables meet Japanese client expectations for clarity, completeness, consistency, and business logic accuracy.
- Maintain governance rhythm with minimum bureaucracy: concise reporting, clear ownership, decision log, risk log, and escalation path.
5. Team Leadership & People Development
- Lead, motivate, and coordinate cross-functional teams including BrSE/BA, developers, QA, Tech Lead, and partner resources.
- Assign clear responsibilities, monitor workload, remove blockers, and build a stable delivery rhythm.
- Coach PM1/PL or key members through regular 1:1, review sessions, and project retrospectives.
- Contribute to team retention, knowledge sharing, and delivery culture improvement.
6. Presales, Estimation & Account Growth Support
- Support or lead estimation, proposal input, delivery approach definition, resource planning, and risk assessment for new opportunities.
- Join client discussions during presales when delivery feasibility, project structure, QCD, or offshore operation model needs clarification.
- Identify upsell or cross-sell opportunities from current projects and coordinate with Sales/Account Manager and Delivery Manager.
7. AI-assisted Project Management & Process Improvement
- Use AI tools appropriately for meeting summary, risk analysis, document drafting, translation support, test/review planning, and reporting improvement.
- Promote practical AI-assisted delivery habits in the team while understanding confidentiality, accuracy, and governance risks.
- Contribute to delivery process standardization, templates, lessons learned, and continuous improvement.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years as Project Manager / Project Leader / Delivery Lead.
- Experience managing software projects for Japanese clients or Japanese-style offshore delivery.
- Experience managing multiple projects, a medium-size project team, or a project portfolio with measurable QCD responsibility.
Japanese & Communication Skills
- Japanese: JLPT N2 or above; N1 is preferred.
- Able to lead client meetings, explain project status, negotiate scope/schedule/quality trade-offs, and handle Q&A independently in Japanese.
- Able to write clear Japanese project documents, meeting minutes, status reports, issue/risk reports, and escalation messages.
- English: C1 preferred for PM2 internal standard; B2+ may be considered if Japanese communication and delivery performance are strong.
Project Management & Delivery Skills
- Solid understanding of SDLC and project governance, especially Waterfall / SI model; Agile/Scrum experience is a plus.
- Strong capability in planning, estimation, schedule control, effort/budget control, resource allocation, risk management, issue management, and change control.
- Ability to maintain delivery indicators such as on-time delivery, effort efficiency, quality baseline, complaint prevention, CSAT, and NPS.
- Familiar with project management tools such as Jira, Backlog, Redmine, Azure DevOps, MS Project, Excel/Power BI, or equivalent.
Technical & Business Understanding
- Able to understand system architecture, functional design, data flow, API/integration points, test strategy, and release/deployment flow at management level.
- Able to discuss technical risks with SA/Tech Lead and translate technical impact into business/project impact for clients and management.
- Previous experience as developer, tester, BA, BrSE, or technical leader is a strong plus but not mandatory if delivery control capability is proven.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Structured thinking, ownership, accountability, and strong problem-solving under pressure.
- Able to influence stakeholders through logic, evidence, priority, and options.
- Able to mentor PM1/PL members and improve team capability through feedback, review, and practical coaching.
- High attention to quality, communication discipline, and documentation consistency.
NICE-TO-HAVE / STRONG PREFERRED
- PMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum Master, PRINCE2, ITIL, or equivalent project/delivery certification.
- Experience working in Japan or directly with Japanese enterprise stakeholders.
- Experience in enterprise systems, legacy modernization, migration, cloud, data, AI, ERP, financial systems, manufacturing systems, or large-scale maintenance projects.
- Experience leading complex estimation, proposal, PoC, or transition projects.
- Experience managing partner/vendor resources and distributed teams.
- Experience creating project dashboards, KPI reports, delivery playbooks, or internal PM standards.
